Rainbows

The little black girl hides under
the slide,
Joe, the bully, is searching now,
looking for a victim.
He passes Jane,
notices a little tanned girl
with a cabbage patch
kid.
He glances at Stephen,
his truck makes
tracks in the
dirt.
He treks past the
sandbox.
A group of pale
children make roads and
lakes.
He reaches the shadow
of the slide.
The shadow masks
her color and he trudges
on.
